Hey Ladies the sun is here and that means your Melasma will start to appear. Melasma is a chronic condition that primarily affects healthy woman of any age. It is a benign skin disorder that creates hyper-pigmentation patches on sun exposed skin. I can not express how important it is to use a sunscreen. SPF30 should be applied daily, even on a cloudy day. Avoid UV exposure as much as possible! The other culprit that effects Melasma is hormones. If you take any external hormones such as birth control, Hormone replacement therapy, or you have a diet rich in phytoestrogens - soy based products - you will be more susceptible to discoloration. So cover up this summer and help keep that complexion youthful and even by using a broad spectrum sunscreen.
Here are some of my favorite SPF's that have both UVA (aging rays) and UVB (burning rays)
Josie Maran SPF 30 - for the lady who wants all natural ingredients.
Solar Protection SPF 40 - for the lady who wants a daily tinted SPF.
PCA Skin perfecting Protection SPF 30 - for the lady who wants a sunscreen that reduces existing discoloration while preventing further hyperpigmentation.
